The M-BIRR mobile money service is offered to financial institutions as a Software as a Service (SaaS).

M-BIRR ICT PLC (Ethiopia) will set up and run the platform in a hosted environment without the financial institution having to incur the IT resources, licensing and expenditure of setting up a data centre.

M-BIRR are investing heavily in putting in place an industry standard hosted mobile money service for our Ethiopian customers. M-BIRR's hosted service is based in two data centre locations in Ethiopia connected securely by high speed fibre-optic, delivering high availability and fault-tolerance.

Tiered access levels allow the head, regional and branch offices of financial institutions to access, query and retrieve customer data and daily reports via a secure (VPN) link to the data centre. Branches in remote locations that lack internet connectivity can access limited functionality directly via the mobile phone.
